Windows Live Mesh
With Windows Live Mesh and the Devices website, you can keep up-to-date copies of documents, photos, and other files on all of your computers, whether PC or Mac. Sync your folders to the 5 GB of free storage space you get with SkyDrive, and work your files on the web from any computer. Run programs and browse all the files on your PC from anywhere by connecting remotely. And keep your favorites in Internet Explorer and your Microsoft Office settings up to date on all of your PCs by syncing your program settings. Here's how to do all of this in Windows Live Mesh.
Sync folders between computers
If you have two or more computers with Windows Live Mesh installed, you can sync folders between them (peer-to-peer). When you sync folders between computers, any changes you make on one computer will be made on the other whenever the computers are online at the same time. The contents of the synced folders are saved on all of the computers, so you can still work on them even when you're not connected to the Internet.
All transfers are encrypted using the Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols.
Click the Start button. In the search box, type Mesh, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mesh. Select the folder you want to sync, and then click Sync.
Select the other computers where you want to sync the folder, and then click OK. The folder will be saved in your personal folder on any PCs you selected. (You can get to this folder by clicking your name on the Start menu.) The folder will be saved in your home folder on any Mac you selected.

Files on SkyDrive synced storage. Connect to a computer remotely
With the remote connections feature in Windows Live Mesh, you can work on your computer from a computer in another location. For example, you can connect from your work computer to your home computer and access all of your programs and files as if you were in front of your computer at home. Before you can connect to a computer remotely, you need to allow remote connections to it in Windows Live Mesh.
All remote connections are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
To connect from a computer that has Windows Live Mesh installed, click the Start button. In the search box, type Mesh, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mesh.
Click Remote, and then click Connect to this computer.
To connect from a computer that doesn't have Windows Live Mesh installed, open Internet Explorer, and then go to the Devices website. Click Connect to this computer. The first time you connect, you might be prompted to install an ActiveX control.
Making a remote connection. Sync your program settings
If you have two or more computers running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use Windows Live Mesh to sync program settings between them. You can sync your favorites in Internet Explorer, and if you have Microsoft Office installed, you can sync your styles, templates, custom dictionary, and email signatures. When you sync your program settings between two computers, they will stay the same on both. Any changes you make on one computer will be made on the other.
To turn on syncing on the first computer for the program settings you want to sync, under Program settings, click Turn on syncing.
To turn on syncing on the other computers, install Windows Live Mesh on each computer and turn on syncing for the program settings you want to sync.
